Red Cross holds Glenwood aid event Friday
The Red Cross Illinois region will be hosting a community disaster relief event from 12 to 4 p.m., Friday, Aug. 21 at the Calvary Baptist Church of Glenwood at 801 E. Glenwood Dyer Road.
The Red Cross Illinois region will be hosting a community disaster relief event from 12 to 4 p.m., Friday, Aug. 21, at the Calvary Baptist Church of Glenwood at 801 E. Glenwood Dyer Road.
It is also sponsored by the village and other businesses.
"A series of severe storms has uprooted the lives of so many throughout the communities we serve," said Connie Esparza, a spokeswoman for the organization, in a statement. "As residents begin the recovery process, the Red Cross remains committed to providing assistance, guidance and a safe place to turn during what can be a very stressful time."
Red Cross shelter act as a hub for disaster help, and anyone can come for food, water, charging stations or other help. It does not ask for identification and visitors do not have to stay overnight.
